Update 1.1.0 - 1.1.2: The Missile Update and the Super Turret Update.
Sup, everyone! I know. I haven't posted an update discussion in a while. But! Here it is! Today we're gonna talk about 2 of the very recent updates the game's been put through. I've named 1.1.0 the Missile Update, and 1.1.2 the Super Turret Update. I'm going to skip over 1.1.1 because it's essentially just a small fix to Elson Demi (which set it up for its 1.1.2 changes), and a fix to Shield Generator (which was introduced in 1.1.0). Now, onto the updates themselves!
Update 1.1.0 - Missiles: This update brings about 3 major changes to the game, and a few medium sized ones.
- The Aries Missiles - Sacrifice more turrets and some of your gold for your Aries to be able to shoot missiles. Needless to say, buy this. Prior to 1.1.2, the missiles fired by the Aries (and the Poseidon, get to that later) would target your own turrets, resulting in mass suicides, but since then, it's been fixed, so make sure to get this upgrade if you want to optimize your base.
- The Poseidon Evolution - The Poseidon is a direct upgrade of the Zycon Storm, which unlocks with 100k gold once your Zycon hits that sweet level 7. This is the most expensive turret evolution in the game as of yet, and for now, not really worth it. While the turret does incredible single target damage and hardly misses, its DPS isn't all that high. And yes, while the "Tsunami" upgrade can increase this DPS by a sizable amount, it has to be noted that the missiles can also be deflected by shields, which means that all that damage is being reflected back to your own base anyways. So... cool? Yes. Strong? Maybe. Competitively viable? I wouldn't say so.
- Shield Generator - Personally, I think the Shield Generator is a gift from God (or the game dev). It used to also have Team Vehemence (all units in range gain 35 HP), but that ability didn't work until 1.1.1, and was downgraded to Team Integrity (all units in range gain 11 HP) in 1.1.2, so now its more of a benefit than a sell. This turret has the unique ability to not only function as a wall, but too cover other walls or turrets too. You can fit a turret in between the actual generator and the outer edges of its shield, which is actually an incredibly powerful ability to have. I would replace all DW's, IB's, DB's, TB's, and Wraths (all defensive units) with this turret, but that may just be personal preference (you can also change the color of the shield, which is the best ability in the game, hands down).
- Level Upgrades - Now, each Level Upgrade can be scaled once more if you have them maxed. This means 4 Super Fion Drones (were just normal drones because of a bug, fixed since 1.1.2), more discounts on upgrades, more damage, units, healing, and ability cooldown reduction! Woohoo! Make sure to get your achievements and beat all the levels, because these things can be seriously helpful.
- New Level - There's this cool new blue planet called Zyvon that you unlock after Marissa. This is the hardest and latest level in campaign, so come prepared or come prepared to lose a few units. Meet the newest character, Clade: a girl I thought was a girl, until everyone on the discord convinced me she was a male, before KidGamez confirmed she was, in fact, a female. Clade's gender issues aside, her boss fight is seriously hard, with her constantly whizzing around your base, deploying highly damaging EMP bombs. My advice: distance your walls from your turrets a little. The bombs have AOE, but not that much.
EDIT: KidGamez has just notified me that Clade is actually a male. I am beyond confused and I have no perception on life anymore. Sorry for the mistake.
Update 1.1.2 - Super Turrets: This update brings about 3 major changes, and a few already discussed fixes.
- Zakana G - Ever thought to yourself, "man, the Zakana is really good at breaking shields, if only it did damage"? Well now, it does. Introducing the Zakana G, an evolution of the Zakana (which looks exactly like it, but glowier), which has about 6 to 7 times the damage of the Zakana, as well as increased health and range. Truly a powerful turret, as its DPS hits around 20-25, as high as Aries and some Teslas. It has yet to be tested competitively, however, as the update has just reached iOS, and only hit Android 1 or 2 days ago.
- Elson Terra - The last time I was truly scared was when I watched Charlotte a year ago. Not because it was scary, but because it was a truly abhorrent movie. God only knows the mental state of the man who made it. Now THAT's scary. Moving on... Elson Terra (the evolution of Elson Demi: looks the same, glowier) scares me. It boasts an incredible base damage, somewhere near 450, and a DPS easily higher than that of Aries or Tesla. In addition, I'm told that this isn't what the turret does in a single burst, but rather in a single MINE, of which it fires about 16 per burst. That means its damage can easily hit the thousands, making it the hardest hitter the game's ever seen (except for Korazon in the first few updates, that thing was funny). I doubt to a certain extent the validity of these numbers, but from what I have seen in these few days, the Elson Terra's damage per level is absolutely insane, even when not surrounded by Chargors or other damage buffs. No more bullying the Elson Demi for being useless...
- Missiles Fix - This update fixed missile targeting, so your Poseidons and Aries won't be killing themselves anymore. Thank god.
- Team Vigor Buff - Team Vigor increases the attack damage of every turret within a certain turret's range. This number (correct me if I'm wrong) used to cap at 13%, but the new cap is 23%, making it nearly 2 times as strong. Turrets like Valerion, Scorpion, and Zakana carry this upgrade, so in spamming them, you can make an incredibly strong base, maybe even without Chargors (due to Chargors' range being small, influencing less towers, and Zakanas'/Scorpions' ranges being massive with range buffs). Keep this in mind, as it may just become the meta.
Conclusion:
Well peeps, that's the recap for these updates. We'll just have to wait, test, and see how these changes affect the meta. The only thing we know for sure is that it HAS changed. I've seen people stacking tons of Shield Generators on top of each other, a base made entirely out of Elson Demis, and a wall of Scorpions in the front line tearing down enemy barriers. How exciting.
P.S. Robbie Rotten (Stefan Karl Stefansson) passed away yesterday, he'll truly be missed. Rest in piece Stefan, you'll always be #1.
